The UP police constable recruitment exam is conducted for the recruitment of two separate groups of constables.

  1. Reserve Citizen Police: they come in frequent contact with the public. They maintain general law and order of the state.
  2. Reserved Territorial Armed Constabulary: they are established to deal with more serious law and order situations. They do not come in contact with the general public, except in cases of public events or natural calamities. The Haryana Armed Police comprises 5 battalions.

Constable is the lowest rank in the police force. Important duties include regular patrolling,  preventing crime, providing  VIP security, work in Thana office or district HQ, maintain records, assisting  SI in the investigation, traffic duties,  maintain order during rallies.

Eligibility: A  pass in 10+2 level or equivalent,

Age 18 to 28 for SI and constable

UP Police Sub Inspector Job Profile

Sub Inspector(SI) is the most important post among the police force at field level. He/she shoulders critical responsibilities as Police station in charge. Generally, SI has to guide and supervises Asst Sub Inspector, Head Constable as well as  Constables. Nature of  Duties might differ between urban Thana, village  Thana and railway thana Normally SI may work in general /day shift but he/she is on call round the clock. He/she has to spend a lot of time in the office, but often being in the field is equally important.

CG Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP: Job Profile

DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police)  take care of office duties in administration as well as fieldwork. She/he assists Superintendent of Police,  who is in charge of police force in the  district level. On the basis delegation of powers,  he/ she  controls and supervises  prosecution branch, traffic branch,  police line,  or  district  crime branch. This is a class 1  gazetted post.

Eligibility criteria:  Min.  Qualification: Candidate must be graduate from a recognized university, Selection process: online application,  written exams fitness, and interview. Selection will be done by  Chhattisgarh Public service commission.
